A simple way to stop the look of a bloodshot eye is to apply an icepack over the closed eye for a minute. You may notice the blood dissipates, or seems to spread initially. This simply means it is being absorbed back into the bloodstream. You may apply the ice several times, and then the blood pink color should fade.

One way to help bruising, which is what a broken blood vessel is, is to apply ice or a cold pack. It helps to slow down the spreading of blood underneath the skin, and hopefully even an eye.

There may not be much you can do, but icing might help (don't hurt your eye), or perhaps a cool compress, or cold wet wash cloth. Don't rub the eye, as this will cause more irritation to the area, which could make the spreading of the blood to increase.

My eye doctor said to use ice immediately after the vessel breaks and then a day or so later use a warm compress to help absorption.
