I have found that I can fix about anything with a butter knife. Insert the knife in the screw and turn. Presto mago-it comes out.

Use a standard flat head screw driver of a size that will fit into only one of the pairs of cross head lines. Be careful not to allow the screw driver to slip and damage the head as this would make it much more difficult to remove later. Philips screw drivers are of low cost and easily available.

A flat head screw driver will work to remove a Philips head screw, but not the other way around. In a pinch you could also try a paper clip.

Sometimes, you can remove a screw with a flathead screw driver, instead of a Philips screw driver. You just need to apply more resistence.
