A trapped nerve in the hip requires the alleviation of whatever is causing the problem. Manipulation of the hip can help reduce any tissue swelling and muscle spasm that is putting pressure on the nerve. Discuss this with your physician or chiropractor.

Nerve pain radiating down a limb such as an arm or a leg can be indicative of a trapped nerve. Proper therapy or light exercises, under careful supervision, may alleviate the pain and the trapped or compressed nerve will be freed allowing healing of the inflamed area and relief from pain.

The first thing you should do is see either an ortho doctor or a chiropractor. My first recommendation would be the chiropractor who would be able to diagnose if there was something serious going on and might be able to help relieve the nerve.

If the pain is persistent, it's important to visit a doctor to determine if physical therapy or medication is in order. In the meantime, being submerged in warm water will help, both through the heat and resting your hip.
