You can try many of the common tactics used by dog owners to keep their dogs out of indoor trash cans. There is a spray called Bitter Apple, available in most pet stores, that might work. You can also try just sprinkling your plants with powdered Cayenne pepper. This is cheap, organic, and non-toxic, and should deter your raccoon.

Raccoons do not make good pets as they have not been domesticated. It will be very hard to prevent problem behaviours now and in the future.

Try sprinkling cayenne pepper or even crushed red pepper around the area that the raccoon is digging. It shouldn't harm him or the plants but it will make him sneeze!

To prevent your pet raccoon from digging up plants, you can spray your plants with something that raccoon's do not like the taste of. Good luck.

First off don't feed them or interact with them in any way. Next don't leave thigs like kiddie pools out that they can drink from. Sprinkle so curry, cinnamon or hot peppers around the garden to make the racoons disregard your flowers. Finally make sure your garbage is locked up well so they don't smell it.
