Know everything you can about your proposed show and be able to answer questions about all aspects of the content. Know what your audience is and proposed advertisers also.

Make sure you know the material well. Practice your pitch to your friends. Make sure you have a hook or something to grab your audience. Be enthusiastic about your show. Make sure you know what your target audience is, and why a company would buy it in the first place.

Make sure that you have your show completely outlined. After that make sure that you look presentable. No one will take an unprepared person who looks sloppy seriously at all.

Well, if you want to pitch a television show, then have a proposal ready and a marketing plan as well.

To prepare for pitching a television show you should write down the important highlights. Prepare, practice in front of family or friends, keep it short, sweet and to the point.

Think of how to compare it to other shows. For example, you could pitch "Lost" as "Gilligan's Island meets the Twilight Zone." You could pitch "Chuck" as "James Bond with computer nerds." Be able to describe your show in ten words. Then, if asked, in 100 words. Or, if asked, in seven minutes. Be flexible.

You should prepare by speaking in the mirror to get comfortable with presenting. This helps you get familiar with your presentation and develops confidence in your speech. This translates to the people you are presenting to in the way that they know, you know what you're talking about.

First, develop a solid treatment, or a synopsis of your show, including a character sketch of main characters. Second, set appointments with TV executives.

The best way to prepare is practice the exact way one is going to throw the pitch. This might sound dumb or time consuming but that is the best policy for practicing anything. Since it involves a television series idea one should probably strand in front of family or friends and try the pitch on them first.

You want to practice your pitch in front of someone you trust to give you thier honest opinion about it.
