The California Prison Inmate Identification Unit can respond to inquiries regarding the whereabouts of a California inmate. They can be contacted by phone at (916) 445-6713 on weekdays from 8-5. You will need to provide a full name and birthdate or a CDC (California Department of Corrections) identification number.

The state of California has an inmate lookup and locator search on it's web page for the California Department of Corrections. If your cousin is incarcerated in a state facility you will be able to find them at this site.

First you should call any relatives who know your cousin and who live in California because they may be able to give you information on him or her. You can also contact the various state prisons in California and give the representative the name of your cousin. Finally, you can ask some relatives in your city who can help.
