Start with a pencil, sharpen it and use your left hand, if you're normally right-handed. If you're left-handed, start with your right hand. If this doesn't do any good, you might consider buying a space-pen, because the ink is specially mixed to stick to the paer and not the hands.

Fancy lettering such as calligraphy can be learned either from a book or by taking a class. Many community colleges or community art centers offer this type of class. You will also be able to find many books on the subject at major book stores and online. Either way you will learn through a lot of practice.
