You should discuss with your direct manager what your interests and goals are and update annually at review time. This will allow them to give you specific tasks (as they come up) that fall within these guidelines. All your assignments may not reflect these interests, but you should find that more of them will.

Talk to your boss and discuss ways that you can better utilize your talents and experience to create a new job position within the company.

Shift job responsibilities toward your own interests by doing work you like on your own time and demonstrating to your employer that you are good at it. This may require you to make a series of small adjustments until you have gradually shaped your work day into something new.

Make a list of your job responsibilities. Then, for each responsibility, think of ways you can accomplish the task using a skill that you especially enjoy performing.

Offer to take on tasks that you enjoy, and do them well. Once management takes note of areas you are proficient in, it's in their best interest to give you those tasks, because when one of their employees is successful the company as a whole will be successful as well.

You really have to be able to find commonalities between the job you are doing and what you like to do, to make it fun.

Firstly, you must accept a job that you enjoy doing as a whole. Once you begin that job, you can find areas that you enjoy more than others and after you have proven your abilities, you can ask your supervisor to allow you to take on your preferred responsibilities that you enjoy.
