There's a conflict with the legality. For example, you may be able to grow marijuana legally for medicinal purposes in California and yet be subject to a federal raid.

In California you can get a permit but you must be a patient to grow medical marijuana. The amount you grow has to coencide with the amount you consume. If you suffer from certain medical conditions you can become a medical marijuana patient and do it legally.

Live in a state with a medical marijuana law, and become a licensed marijuana grower. This is not a simple process, and would not be beneficial to the recreational user or seller.

you can't. It is not ok to grow this legally in many countries of the world because it can be construed as production for sales.
