First step would be to visit SSA. com or your local SSA office. Are you at least 62 or disabled? Have you worked and earned credits toward Social Security? You will need to be at least 65 to qualify for medicare, unless you are disabled.

Most of the SSI application process can be done online, though you will eventually need to go to your local Social Security office with supporting documentation regarding your need, income, and Social Security information. When you receive your approval for SSI, you will be provided the necessary information for how to apply for Medicare.

One option is to apply online. Put medicare as a key word and you should find it. Otherwise look up in the phone book where to go.

(SSI)Supplemental Security Income is a federal income program funded by general tax revenues (not social security taxes. It is designed to help aged, blind, and disabled people with little or no income. If you are in those categories you should apply. If not you will not get it.

You need to go to your local Social Security office and file for eligibility about three months before you turn 65. You will need an appointment with them to go over everything to see of you are qualified. Once you are qualified, your benefits will start the month you turn the correct age.

Get old or get hurt. If you've managed to do either of those, contact your local office of the Social Security Administration.
