This is tough, and my sympathy. Physical Therapy works wonders. Surgery may be required. Stretching exercises work wonders, and you need to not sit for extended periods. Ibuprofen helps greatly.

Sciatica is a group of symptoms and not an illness. Pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling may run down from the lower back down a leg to the foot. Symptoms may be caused by a herniated disc, pinched spinal nerve roots, trauma, or rarely tumors. Pain medication, hot and cold packs, physical therapy, steroid injections, and surgery help relieve sciatica.

Always contact a doctor for serious conditions but taking non-prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin and ibuprofen helps relieve the pain. Doctors may prescribe muscle relaxants which helps the pain. Bed rest is good for a few days but is not good for a long time because muscles will weaken quickly. Exercise will help circulation and will promote healing.

compression of the nerve in the lumbar region of the spine causes sciatica, this compression is due to degeneration of bones in the lumbar region. Physiotherapy treatment is the relief for sciatica.
