Tiny brown worms in carpeting are usually flea larvae. First, do a thorough vacuuming of the entire carpet. You must throw the vacuum bag out immediately or the fleas will be back . After vacuuming, spray with a flea killer to get any remaining adults, larvae and eggs.

Call pest control those things are a nightmare to try and get rid of on your own. They can get rid of the in one maybe two visits.

I think you should rent a steam vac it will clean up your carpet very well. You may need to call a pest control if that doesn't work.
