Buy a ball made for hooking. Lower end plastic balls don't hook much. Also look into buying a wrist guard that you can set for hooking. It will train your wrist. Robbie Rev makes one.

First, have the ball drilled for a fingertip grip. Release the ball with the thumb exiting first and bringing the arm straight. Use a line off of center on the lane as the oil tends to collect more in the center.

I was always told that throwing a hook is a little bit like shaking the ball's hand, just turn your wrist when you release!

Hold the ball in the palm of your hand, shooting with your palm up, and ending in a handshake position. When you release your thumb will come out first, then your fingers put the spin on the ball. Follow through over your head.

You can start by reading books and watch videos of how it is properly done. And of course, the most effective way is to keep on practicing and practicing.

There are varying degrees of hook in bowling. Generally the approach and speed of the ball can affect the hook. The most important aspect however is the ball itself. A cheap plastic ball is going to have little or no hook, while a more expensive ball designed and drilled properly will hook as desired. Vist the proshop for help.

Get the right equipment:you need a ball made of Reactive Resin or better. Have your ball drilled correctly. Use the proper grip:Grip the ball with the two middle fingers Visualize the line you'll take across the lane. Make the swing. Time your release. Follow through. Make the necessary adjustments.
