In order to find the name of a hotmail user they must first have a public profile. You can search for them. Other wise, you will need windows live messenger, add them to your contacts, and it will give you the option to view their profile. There are no other legal ways to find this information.

You can view their profile on MSN using the first part of their e-mail address (before the @). If they've chosen to share that information, it will be on that page. Otherwise you don't.
