For the "man room," try furnishings and decor in deep jewel tones or natural shades. These will camouflage spills and thus require less frequent cleanup. A play room for a child or adult would benefit from bright, fun colors and inviting decor - pictures of sports stars or other action-packed art.

If your basement is a single large space, as most people's are, then you could separate the play room from the man room with a double-sided shelving unit. The kids' side would hold toys and stuff and the other side could hold trophies, books, a liquor cabinet (with a lock, of course!), etc. Easier than installing a wall, and practical.

Depending on the size of the basement you can place a divider in between the rooms and you can create both rooms due to space.

If you're looking to create two distinctly seperate rooms in the basement, step one would be to divide into two. Then think of all that you want in each room.
