Section off a space with gates or fencing of some sort. Place a crate or a dog bed or blanket in the area for the dog to be comfortable. Make sure it is not too cold or hot in the garage. Leave plenty of water and food for the dog.

Block off the area you intend to contain your dog in with baby gates. Place food and water dishes at one end and put a dog bed, or old comforter at the other end for your dog to sleep on. Include some toys in the area for your dog to play with as well.

I don't know if setting up your dog in a garage is the best idea. Reason for that is you could have harmful chemicals that may spill and the dog might drink it up thinking it is water. You could consider buying a dog house and building a fence.

First of all you have to make very sure that all poisonous items are not within reach of the dog. Cordon of an area specific to the dog, and place either a kennel with a warm blanket in it, or a dog bed, along with their food and water.

Put any dangerous substances up so the dog can't get them. You should put a dog pen in the garage so your dog cannot get into anything. Make sure that you put something down so his feet don't get cold and give him plenty of food and water.
