The negative result of your PAP is more than likely because you do not have any abnormal cells that are evident at that time. HPV is a virus and is not always active and causing dysplasia even though it is still present in your system and can cause the growth of abnormal cells at any time depending on the strain.

HPV could be very new in your system as a result it could not have done damage to your cervix to cause a positive result with the HPV. Consult with your doctor for treatment options.

Yes. HPV is a positive test for the HPV virus. It can take years for the HPV virus to cause cervical changes that show up on a PAP test.
