Beyond the vanilla responses posted so far you can only really advise him as to your mistakes. Guide there development away from negativity, reward loyalty and intelligence ignore or punish antisocial or unfavourable behaviour and practice what you preach try to make yourself a better person and they'll follow.

1. If you are in school, stay in school, be it high school or college. 2. If not in school, get a job. It may be part time. But show them a work ethic and how to earn money. 3. Don't break the law, drink alcohol, or use drugs.

Tell the truth with love. Make loyalty an obvious quality. Respect life and repect other people. Be kind, generous, helpful, and thankful. Tell them you love them and care about them, and show them by your actions. Play with them and enjoy it. Go to their "stuff".

To be a good role model, be kind, thoughtful, encouraging and set a good example. Understand that the things you do will be copied so do the right things.

Don't drink, don't do drugs, keep your pants zipped and obey the speed limit. Show them that caring and giving matters a lot more than using and getting.
