The best prevention is drinking plenty of fluids - cranberry juice is considered especially effective. The more you urinate, the more chances your body has to "flush out" any disease-causing bacteria before an infection flares up. If you suffer from frequent infections, a doctor may prescribe a low-dose antibiotic.

make sure you drink plenty of water frequently and also pass urine when needed - don't retain urine or postpone urination. Circumcision may help if you have a tight prepuce or a lot of smegma accumulating under the prepuce.

The best way to avoid bladder infections, for males and females, is to be sure to drink plenty of water every day. On top of water, have at least one glass of cranberry juice every day. Wear clean underwear, and be clean in general.

For males to avoid bladder infections, they should practice safe sex, to avoid any STDs that can cause a urinary tract infection that would lead to a bladder infection. It is also important to drink plenty of fluids.
