We found a much cheaper alternative to a tub reliner, was hiring a fiberglass man. He drilled several holes in the bottom, injected several foam packs under the tub. The foam expands and hardens giving us a strong bottom. Then he used an acrylic material to fill in the holes, and cracks, sanded and buffed. Our tub looks like new!
If you plan on staying in the home for many years then a relining of the tub is the way to go. however it tends to get expensive. You often have several unforeseen issues which require more cash than originally expected.
Yes, and the job comes out looking pretty good, too. I'm assuming that you are talking about a company like Bath Refitter come and do the job. You need to go with a company that has a track record and good references. Also, compare the cost against simply replacing.
While the tub reliner looked terrific when new, it chipped easily. It also looked worn along the front edge of the tub fairly quickly, as if it wasn't thick enough.
The tub liner we purchased was the best decision that we ever made for dealing with an old tub. It was much more economical than doing a full remodel with the tile and all the other work that has to be done. The biggest benefit is not having to deal with grout anymore.
My cousin has a that kind of tub and when I first took bath at him it very nice. It's the best tub that you can buy so i can say that i had a good experience with it
