things that fulfill their function well, often have beautiful form. If you want to make something that is beautiful, you can make a work of art... but if the thing is supposed to do something (chair, fork, car), make it work well!

Clearly neither Form nor Function is going to be more important in all cases in every possible world. However, something's Function is valued by me (and likely most people) as more "important", generally speaking, than the same thing's appearance.

i had an architecture class when i was in college, and this was the only question on the final. our answer was supposed to be something like 3-5 pages. i think almost every student wrote about some combination of both. both matter but, function > form

as a general rule, I am really about function. i think things that are supposed to be beautiful, form *is* their function. but everything else, spatulas and toilets and stuff, I actually think that being able to do the job efficiently is more important than looking good while you do it.
