During the Pentecostal revival that started in the late 1800's and really took root in the early 1900's many of the first Pentecostals were Methodists that got baptized in the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other Tongues. So it is not directly in their history as a movement but many of their people who had the experience.

Generally, the Methodist church does not have a tradition of speaking in tongues. A few congregations do see it as a sign of true faith and celebrate it, but that is rare. There is no formal stance in the denomination about speaking in tongues, but it is not generally encouraged.
