Does the Cadillac Northstar engine use excessive oil?

I have heard that it does. Why is that?

A lot of people will tell you that it does but I haven't found it myself. A car like that is going to take a lot of oil.

From what I have read online a Northstar can use a quart of oil from anywhere from 1000 to 4000 mileages depending on the engine. This oil usesage is a result of the increased needed to lubricate the rings as well as the large number of valve guides.

If your Northstar is using excessive oil, there this is probably a problem with it. It should not be using more oil than any other Cadillac.
