Does divorce affect children?

I mean in real life--not on TV.

Yes. If you think it doesn't you're crazy. Most kids think that the divorce is some how their fault. You need to reassure the children that nothing they did caused the divorce and just because Mommy and Daddy don't love each other anymore doesn't mean that they BOTH don't love the children. Love your children and spend time with them.

Of course your divorce will affect your children. Where they had previously lived with both their mother and father on a full-time basis, likely seeing and interacting with each of you every day, the change in lifestyle will be dramatic. While most children will come to accept the changes, it is difficult for them to process.
