Probably not. They are wild animals and should really not be kept as pets unless you're prepared to give them a lot of attention.

They do not make good pets for small children due to the fact that they require a certain level of care. The animal might poke or scare the child causing the child to accidentally squeeze or hurt the pet resulting in the animal biting the child. Though they do make wonderful pets, they are not for everyone.

Hedgehogs are not very good pets. They prefer to tunnel and burrow and that is not very conducive with keeping it in a house or even within a back yard. In addition, they are not very cuddly.

Hedgehogs are very low maintenance pets. They keep to themselves, and are easy to clean up after and feed. If your daughter would like a pet she can take out of the cage to play with, I would recommend a hamster or guinea pig, as hedgehogs are not very social.

Beware! It may be illegal to own this cute little creature. Although they appear cuddly, they are often aloof and can bite even the kindest of owners. Do your homework!
