Indeed, adult wasps DO feed on caterpillars, however, you should know they also feed on plant nectars too. While they may be okay near the tomato plants, if you have other plants nearby, you should be careful.

If you plant daisies, clover plants, or spearmint near your tomato plants, tiny wasps lay eggs on the caterpillars. After hatching, they eat caterpillar until it dies.

Wasps may or may not kill those caterpillars. You can use an organic insecticide to help kill off the caterpillars.

Trichogramma wasps are tiny predators. They are parasites to moth and butterfly eggs and prevent from destructing caterpillars. Having Trichogramma wasps in your garden give you more value.
