They do still make Quaker oatmeal, in quite a few varieties including the beloved original in the round container! The soluble fiber in oatmeal works in two ways: it slows down the absorption of LDL cholesterol from the digestive tract, and it attaches to it and carries it out!

Quaker Oatmeal is still available in most supermarkets. Oats contain fibre and when you eat oatmeal the soluble fibre is used by your digestive system where it mixes with bile which is acidic and contains cholesterol based acids. Oat fibre prevents these being absorbed and they are then excreted by the body.
