Question by  MikeyMovies (27)

Do teacup cats make good pets?

We don't have a lot of room so a small cat would be great.

All cats are different. That said, most cats will do well in a small area if you know what you are getting into. There is no breed called "teacup cats" but there are small breeds (such as the Singapura). You might do well look for a less active cat rather than a smaller cat.

I do not believe that there is any such thing as a teacup cat. Some breeds are smaller than others, but most cats in the US are domestic shorthair mixes which can be any size. Beware of any breeder selling a cat as a "teacup". They are just be using that terminology to try to get more money.

I don't think the size of a cat matters how much room you have. I have found that a grown cat over 3 years old needs less room and activity then a young or a small cat. Maybe you want an older cat - they like to sleep a lot and don't need a lot of play time.

There are naturally smaller cats and some cat breeds that are typically smaller than the biggest breeds. 'Teacup' cats may be small due to hereditary health issues making them a riskier pet for you. One problem is that people selling 'teacup' type animals often mislead you about age, size and health of their animals to make a sale.

There really isn't such a thing as teacup cats. Some cats are smaller than others, some are bigger, but they're all somewhat similar sizes. If you don't have a lot of room, the size of your cat shouldn't be as important as the energy level. If your cat is really hyper it will need more room to run around.

Teacup cats have alot of health issues.Due to them being dwarfed sized, they have skeletal issues, and lots of problems due their small size.

There are many factors that influence that decision. If you have small children living in your home, a teacup cat wouldn't be the best. Young children could unknowingly injure your feline. It also depends on if you have other pets. A minuscule cat can be frightened or injured by a large dog!

As long as you are a cat person, teacup cats make great pets! In general, cats are loving and low-maintenance as long as they have someone available to care for them. Teacup cats are no different from other cats, as far as behavior is concerned, so just make sure that it has a loving environment and you should be fine!
