I think the "do-rag" gang affiliation thing is really dependent on where you are. If you're in the city, you might want to avoid the popular gang colors to avoid confusion and limit the potential for getting shot at. If you're in a rural area, you're probably fairly safe wearing a bandana of any color.

Do-rags are no longer very popular as a general fashion item. If someone is wearing a do-rag, it doesn't necessarily mean they are in a gang - sometimes they just haven't realized that do-rags are out of style.
