These fish are known as Betta fish. Have only one Betta in the tank. Not very sociable. These fish are easy to care for. They don't need much space, can be put in a vase. If Betta fish get diseases, it is usually from not taking care of the tank.

No, they are a very low maintenance fish that can tolerate just about any condition. They are native to rice paties, which are low in oxygen and high in toxins.

Try not to use reflective objects around the tank. This will excite the fish which is stressful on their health. Also, boil tap water and then let it come back to a decent temperature. This is a garunteed way to make sure your water is safe for the fish. Also, they cannot live with other fish. They will kill them.

Yes. they are a very special fish. they will most likely kill or eat any other of the same species in the same tank. they should have a talk that is at least 1 1/2 gallons. no lighting required tho, and just make sure their water has been cleaned and dechlorinated.
