An avian veterinarian is recommended for cockatiels and other birds. Such vets have spent at least six years dealing with all kinds of birds. There are approximately 100 such certified vets worldwide. If you are not close to one, consult local associations, breeders, and sellers. No doubt they can help you find help for your problem.

A veterinarian that specializes in birds (an avian vet), is recommended. If you can't find one, check with your local veterinarian to see if they have any experience with birds.

Pet cockatiels should be seen by a qualified avian veterinarian. Birds need specialized attention as their needs are very different from cats and dogs.

You will need to find a veterinarian that treats birds. Many vets are limited to dogs and cats, or specialize in farm animals. There are vets that treat birds and reptiles. They will have the expertise to diagnose any problems, treat the cockatiel, and give you advice about behavior problems.

You will need to get a vet that includes exotics (ferrets, armadillos, reptiles and birds) in their practice. Many veterinarinas only cater to dogs and cats but an "exotics" specialist can help you.
