Hamsters do not have periods. They may let out a bit of yellow discharge every four days due to their estros cycle but they will never actually have a real period. The yellow discharge will have a very musky smell in order to attract male hamsters to mate with them.

I would guess that hamsters go into heat like other mammals such as cats and dogs. THey go through a cycle.
