Children can wet the bed until they are 6 years old, after this it is regarded as not normal. It's hardly ever caused by a physical problem, but most likely because he doesn't wake up in time. This can be trained with a special alarm. If he started wetting the bed again it may be a phycological problem.

Children wetting the bed can be related to a physical problem due to an immature bladder. Children with ADD (attention deficit disorder) and allergies are also more at risk of bed wetting. Also, a deep sleeping pattern can eliminate the feeling of a full bladder, causing the child not to wake up.

Sometimes yes sometimes no it all depends on the individual child. Some kids wet the bed until they are almost teenagers and others never do it. Take the child to the doctor and they will run tests and tell you if there is something physical wrong and treatment.
