No, chihuahuas absolutely do not need to wear sweaters. They are animals and were made to withstand any normal weather temperatures. For the most part, sweaters and other clothing items are made and sold for pets more for looks than anything else. Some people enjoy dressing up their animals. In extremely cold weather, a sweater may make them more comfortable.

Chihuahuas do not get cold easily, and normally people put sweaters on them more as an accessory. They are frail dogs that can spook quite easily and shake.
