I think it can, but it depends on how long you have been using it for. If you read the symptoms booklet that comes with the birth control it will usually tell you how fast side effects can appear. Its usually thirty to sixty days. If you have been using it for longer than that it might be something else.

The pill can cause cramping, bloating, things that can cause stomach pain. If you are using an Intrauterine Device (IUD) and you are having pain, go to the doctor IMMEDIATELY! If pain persists more than a few days with the pill, consult your physician.

Generally hormonal birth control helps relieve cramping, Copper IUDs may cause you to experience more cramping. If the pain does not feel like cramping, it's best to consult a doctor

If you have just started a new birth control, then yes, it can be causing this. However, if you have been on it for more than three months and this is a new symptom, you may want to see your doctor or OBGYN to make sure there is not something wrong.
