Yes, you can text on a TracFone, however Tracfone has yet to release a QWERTY keyboard device. You do not need a contract. They do charge 0.30 of a minute for a one page message to one recipient, 0.60 of a minute if sending to 2 recipients, and so on.

yes you can text on a TracFone. I used to own one 3 years ago before my current cellphone. The compnay was Alltel. You pay as you go, if you don't like that than you can pay for unlimited texting.
