Question by  mvgd (49)

Can you tell me some current books that give good examples of what life is like for Native Americans today?

I have some older books but would like something newer, fiction or non-fiction.

There are two writers of fiction who give good pictures of modern Native American life. One is Sherman Alexie; "Reservation Blues" and "The Business of Fancydancing" are set on a reservation near Spokane. Louise Erdrich writes a lot about Indians in northern Minnesota; "Bingo Palace" is a good example.

Wikipedia is a good source. There are some books that you can find at a local book store in your area that would have a good selection for you.

Well twilight is good because it shows some native people but it's also fiction. Otherwise just read history. No such books exist.
