Take a bucket of warm water and disolve four or five teaspoons of dish detergent like dawn. Put in a sprayer or spray bottle and douse the tree limbs with the solution.

Hornets don't attack trees. Sawflies-- plant-eating relatives-- do. If you see waspish forms, they may be wood-boring (hard to treat). Look for caterpillar-like larve on foliage. You can spray those.

Getting rid of the hornets is the best way to stop them. Hornets do not like sugary treats but prefer protien and live food like bugs. Some NON CHEMICAL ways to get rid of hornets are. Keep all dog food, fish remains from being left out. Use vingear for a good water trap and keep garbage can lids sealed tight.
