To end this barking, invest in a bark collar. A bark collar is a humane tool. This collar is strapped to a dog's neck and can hold dog ID plackards. In addition, it spray a dog when the dog barks.

When your dog begins to bark, talk to them soothing, and acknowledge their sound. Do not praise them if they are barking for no obvious reason but DO praise them if they are barking for a good reason. Your dog will learn to associate the praise with barking when necessary.

This issue can be common in Maltese dogs. They tend to guard their favorite person and will bark if anyone they don't know comes near that person. That you probably won't be able to stop. As far as barking all the time you can put your dog in it's kennel if it barks too much.

Determine why your dog is barking. Most bark out of boredom, separation anxiety, or guarding their territory. When he begins to bark, praise him for alerting you, but then give the Quiet command. Give your dog a treat if he does not bark for a couple of seconds.

There is really nothing you can do to stop it. They are protecters and they bark to warn you something isn't right. You can try taking the dog to obedience sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
