Can you tell me how to soften baguettes?

Preheat your oven to 350F. Place the baguettes (you may have to cut them in pieces to fit) into a paper bag and close it up. Sprinkle the bag heavily with water (you can even dip it quickly into a bowl of water) and pop into the oven for 5-7 minutes. Baguettes as good as new.

When I have baguettes that have a hard crust I place them in aluminum foil and brush some water on the crust, wrap and bake until warm. That usually does the trick. You can also use a light amount of melted butter or olive oil. My mother in law puts hers in the microwave for 20 seconds to soften hers.

Take a clean thin towel, soak in water, wring out. Fold flat, microwave on a suitable plate (90 seconds, full power). Wrap the baguette in the hot towel for 5min.
