Wash the cabinets completely with soap and water. Be sure to remove any grease, oil or other residue. Provide good ventilation and apply a paint containing urethane resin. Another option is to gently sand the cabinets and use a latex paint, but adhesion will not be as complete and the paint will eventually peel.

Vinyl doesn't hold paint very well, its too slick. You'll need to lightly roughen up the surface with sandpaper to make the pain adhere.

Vinyl coated cabinets should be painted with a paint that is specifically design for vinyl. This will ensure the paint bonds with the material and will dry uniformly after complete coverage.

First you need to prime your cabinets. Then make sure you buy a premium quality paint to ensure that it will stick to the vinyl. Check with Sherman Williams.

I have been in the sign business for over 20 years, and have painted and airbrushed vinyl many times. By far the very best paint to use is Krylon 5 Ball. Just look for the 5 balls on the can. Prep first just clean and remove any grease. Then paint.
