Can you tell me how to make my own lamination transition pieces?

You can try and fix a strip onto the bottom of a regular flat threshold to make your transition, but at that point is actually cheaper to just buy the one that matches your laminate. It will perfectly match the laminate pattern. This isn't the place to skimp.

The laminate floor you purchased should have transition pieces available for you to purchase. Buying these will allow you to purchase a piece that will compliment your flooring well. Contact your local flooring dealer or someone who installs flooring. Either of these would be a good resource for what has worked for other people.
