If their tongue is out and they are panting heavily they are in danger of heat stroke. Also, the nose or tongue may be unusually dry.

Look for increased respiration, or panting, and a dry mouth. If either of these are present, offer the dog plenty of water, then ice chips.

Dogs do not have sweat, cannot emit sweating through haired skin and can the body heat through nose and footpads. If its temperature reaches 106 degree, heat stroke is possible. Increasing anal temperature, speed breathing, dark red gums, always lying down, loss of consciousness, thick saliva , dizziness are symptoms.
