It is possible to know right away that the job is not for you. If it's that obvious so quickly, make sure you understand more thoroughly what is involved next time. Future employers will look for stability and longevity in an applicant.

It depends. If you're truly miserable, you have to weigh the cost / benefit of staying in the position. If you're just feeling overwhelmed, talk to your supervisor about what's expected of you. Learning curves take time to get over. In these recessionary times, however, it might be wise to stick it out.

I would give the job one or two weeks. Give it your all, some jobs take time to adjust too.
