It really depends on exactly what is wrong with it. Most components can be bought at your local auto parts store and replaced. However things like loose contacts and cracks require replacing the whole cap.

No, it is considered a maintenance consumable item, and as such is not a repairable item. You should be able to find one for a reasonable price from one of the many online european car parts specialists. Replacing the distributor cap is a pretty straightforward job - just make sure that you have the wires installed correctly.

No. It is best to just replace the entire distributor cap, especially if the cap is the original distributor cap. Save yourself the trouble of having problems in the future. The other hard part is finding the correct distributor cap for that vehicle. Mercedes might be able to help, although that would be the expensive way to get the part.

u cannot repair the distributor cap or the rotor inside but u can buy a these new for likely less than $30. u have to take out the two screws holing it down. then remove the cap and u should replace the rotor also.this may pull off or have two screws as well "remember where the plug wires go"

Yes, it is possible. You would need to take the item to your local metal shop so they can dimension and replicate all parts of the distributor. You can also try to do this yourself, but it would require many expensive tools already available at a shop.

If cap itself is cracked or the terminals are loose then buy a new cap assembly. Damaged internals should also be replaced with new parts.

You really should not try to repair the distributor cap. You should buy a new one or a used one from the junk yard.
