Focus on doing moderate exercise several days a week. Choose exercises you enjoy - there are lots of activities to choose from such as walking, running, playing sports, dance classes, exercise dvds, weight lifting, etc. Picking something you love will make it easy to stick with it for a lifetime.

There are many fitness programs around however the best program is one which you will stick with and which does not require a lot of fancy equipment and can even be taken on the road. This is why I recommend fitdeck. It is the size of a deck of cards and all exercises are illustrated and require no extra machines.

In order to have a lifetime fitness program, you need to change your lifestyle first. Know and understand that you will progress through a number of different routines and programs as your needs change and as you grow bored with old routines. To start out with, 'Body for Life' by Bill Phillips is a very good system.

Depending on your goals, it should involve all of your muscle groups and leave you enough time to rest. First start with low to medium intensity, gradually advance.
