Sometimes the pins in your ignition switch will lose lubrication and cause problems inserting and removing the keys from your car. The first thing to try is to spray a small amount of liquid graphite directly into your keyed ignition and work your key in and out a few times to re-lubricate the pins.

It's probably a worn-out key. If the wheel is turned, that can put pressure on the locking pawl and keep the key from turning.
