First try to see if your transmission is fluids are at requirement levels. If this does not solve it. Do not attempt repairs your self. Transmission are made up of many gears and parts. Take it in to have it serviced. Any attempts made can be harmful to you or the parts itself. It could be a easy fix.

Massey Ferguson's run forever, and with a bit of maintenance, it will work hard for you for years to come. The transmission problem usually takes months before it completely fails. Usually, third gear is the first thing to go. If you can do without third gear, then you might want to just let it ride until second becomes a problem.

It can mean the transmission is going or the shift stick is going. Either one will need to be fixed immediately.

it is possible that the clutch could need adjustment. if the clutch is not releasing properly, the shifter will not work smoothly.
