Discoid lupus is lupus that affects the skin and does not tend to have complications as serious as the systemic lupus, but it sometimes develops into the systemic type. The symptoms of discoid lupus causes skin sores on various parts of the body and often causes scarring. Systemic lupus also involves the skin, but it affects internal organs as well.
