Question by  Barista (14)

Can you give me some ideas for a poetry bulletin board?

It's for high school students.

Physical themes with images, e.g., nature, or literary movements with quotes and historical facts interspersed both have appeal. Focusing on how the poetry of one poet evolved because of life would be interesting. Finally, silhouettes with students' poetry written on them would make a great creative project.

I think a good idea would be to divide the bulletin board--one half for the students' favorite poems from literature, and one half for original poems they have written themselves.

You could use pages from old books to create a border for the board, then add colored shapes of paper with names of famous poets, including Whitman, Dickinson, and Frost.

Perhaps marrying an arresting image with appropriate words would be the way to go. Non-copyrighted images are available on the web. And as an academic, I believe you are also free to use screen captures from popular films (fair use).
